Anton Müller established Müller Transport in 1938. He started out with one employee, and one truck with a livestock trailer. In those days the company’s focus was very local, carrying out all kinds of transport: from tankers for liquid foodstuffs to refrigerated transport, and from covered and volume transport to frozen transport. The organisation expanded into a very broadly-focused transport firm, in which the transport of foodstuffs was always the key business.
By the end of the 1990s, Müller Transport was mainly known for tanker transport (as a transporter of liquid foodstuffs and dairy). At that time Müller had more than 70 tankers. After a number of years, it became clear that the business should specialise in the logistics market. In 2001 Müller made the conscious decision to focus its activities on what is now its core business: a full service logistics service provider of conditioned foodstuffs. With success. Müller is a market leader and in good financial health.
Meanwhile, the third Müller generation has taken over running the organisation. Brothers Jan-Peter and Anton Müller are proud of what their family business has achieved down the years. Jan-Peter is responsible for the logistics side, and Anton runs the garage company European Truck & Trailer Care (ETTC) which is also a part of the Transport Group A. Müller. But cooperation between members of the family is still paramount, and they help and advise each other where necessary.
Müller now specialises in warehousing, value added logistics and distribution for chilled and frozen foodstuffs. Chief executive Jan-Peter Müller explains: “We help our customers to carry out their core business by taking on as much as possible of the logistics processes for them. So we give customers peace of mind. To achieve that, we are happy to have very well-trained, involved and motivated staff. The trucks are visible, but there is a whole world of IT and sophisticated processes behind them.
